Early in his career, Wyer found himself documenting the Second World War. Some of his photography was specific to recording war activities, including medical drills, draftees and war bond drives. Other photographs he took documented the war as he did his regular studio work, including portraits of soldiers and weddings featuring soldiers in uniform.

Presentation of V-home sticker by Air Raid Warden J.K. Thompson to Supervisor and Mrs. A.W. Dreyfus of Delhi. Such a sticker meant that a home met all 5 criteria for being prepared for an air raid.

This flag was placed in the Courthouse Square in Delhi in November 1942 to commemorate the 2,007 Delaware County men and women serving in the war. By the time of its placement, it was already noted that there were more than 2,007 serving and that it would be periodically updated.

The AWVS assembled an honor roll of all Delhi Men and Women serving in the Armed Forces. The dedication took place on Courthouse Square on July 9, 1943.
